History of the Climate Change and Health Research Center, Dezful University of Medical Sciences
The Center for Climate Change and Health Research at Dezful University of Medical Sciences was established in 2022. The Center was created with the aim of advancing research related to climate change and its effects on health. During the initial months of the Center’s activity in 2022, substantive steps were taken by the members of the Strategic and Research Council to finalize the statutes, the strategic plan, and the operational plan of the Center.
Steps for establishment and institutionalization of the Center:
- Approval and establishment of the Center at Dezful University of Medical Sciences June 2021
- Inauguration of the Center in the city of Dezful June 2021
- Signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Dezful University of Medical Sciences
- Launch of the Center’s website
- Issuance of official notification to the members of the Strategic Council
- Holding two Strategic Council meetings to finalize the strategic plan
- Final approval of the Center’s strategic plan
- Holding drafting sessions and finalization of the Center’s statutes
- Commencement of receiving research proposals
- Drafting the Center’s operational plan for the year 2023
- Initial approval of the Center by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education
- Submission of proposals related to climate change and health for peer review
- Expansion of cooperation with the Secretariat of the Food Security Council in the form of a joint operational program with that Secretariat
